Ruth Lorenzo, originally from Spain auditioned in Birmingham and when entering the competition claimed she had no idea who the X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole or Dannii Minogue were!

The 25 year old P R Consultant for a holiday camp in Mercia, Spain, confessed to never seeing The X Factor before her application form was sent in by her best friends younger daughter.

Ruth had entered a Spanish show, similar to X Factor when she was only 19 but unfortunately failed to get through the auditions. After hearing about the X Factor in England through a friend she decided to try once more to make her dreams a reality, so booked her flight to England. On the day she arrived in England her flight was delayed for 4 hours which meant she didn't get into the U.K. until 5.00 a.m on the morning of her audition.

At her X-factor audition she sang Carole Kings “Natural women” which had the judges nodding with approval. Ruth says her ambition is to top Leona Lewis.

Louis Walsh said “You’re like a tiger”.

Simon Cowell said “interesting and a lot of energy”

With the much sought after 4 yes votes from the Judges, the young Spanish beauty was soon off to the tough boot camp stage of the popular ITV television show.

At Boot camp Ruth sang a stunning version in English and Spanish version “Sorry seems to be the hardest word “ by Elton John. The X Factor judges gave Ruth more positive comments, which saw her reach the judges houses stage of the competition.

 

At Dannii Minogue's St Tropez retreat she sang a beautiful version of the song “ True colours”again using a mixture of both English and Spanish lyrics. Dannii's guest Emma Bunton said Ruth's superb singing had given her goose bumps! After much deliberation Ruth Lorenzo received the news she had been waiting for, Dannii had chosen her to be in her final 3 !!!

Updated 06.10.08 Ruth Lorenzo has now made it through to the LIVE finals of the television show!
